A Series Type is a category of series, while a Series is a package of classes or a contract that are set up under a category. We use Series Types when creating classes to determine which Series Types can be used to enroll in the class.

Navigate to Series Type by Admin > Scheduling/Retail > Series Types

There are three different kinds of Series Types that you can make:

Standard

A Standard Series Type is used for your every-day general use Series and Contracts. For example, you may have a Series Type for your 1 Class, 5 Classes 10 Classes, etc. simply called Standard Series. You may decide to use a Series Type called Memberships that will hold your recurring Contracts like Monthly Unlimited, etc.

A studio might offer Yoga, TRX and Spin and have different prices for each of those classes. The studio would create different Series Types for each class (Yoga Series Type, etc.). If the classes are all the same price, then only one Series Type would be needed (Group Exercise Series Type, for example).

Free Classes

A Free Classes Series Type is used when you want to create a series type specifically to be used with classes that you want to be free to anyone who wishes to book into the class, providing they have an account. This could be used for Community Rides, Charity classes, etc. Please note that if you select a Series Type that is free whenever configuring a class in the scheduler that class is free to everyone, whether they have one of the other select series or not. Only select free Series Types when you want the class to be absolutely free.

Event Classes

An Event Series Type is created to facilitate either specific events or can be used as a general catch-all for events you may use in the future. Unlike the Free Series creating an Event Series Type will not create a corresponding Series. The series you create under an Event Series Type should have a class count of 1, but all other settings can be configured as you see fit.

Series within an Event Series Type is not displayed on the Pricing Page. Typically these Series Types are reserved for special events and community classes, so to avoid confusing your customers, they are omitted from the Pricing Page. These can still be purchased, but the customer would go through a different workflow to purchase these one-off special classes.

TIPS:

It may be best to consolidate all Series and Contracts that should have the same booking opportunity into one Standard Series Type. This reduces the likelihood of not adding all applicable Series Types to a Class, resulting in a customer not being able to book a class when they should be able to do so.
